This position performs preventive maintenance, inspections and repairs on all city-owned vehicles. Duties include providing 24-hour roadside assistance; servicing and lubricating city vehicles to ensure the engine oil, transmission fluid and hydraulic fluids are at the optimal level; repairing or replacing hoses, belts, wipers, filters, tires and lights; maintaining shop inventory; entering data into the oil usage accounting records; picking up parts and taking vehicles to and from the specified vendor as needed. A high school diploma or equivalent; six (6) months of experience in automotive servicing and tire maintenance; and a  valid Texas driver’s license are required. Must currently possess, or be able to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. Must provide one’s own tools, preferably possessing necessary tools at the time of hire. May be scheduled for periodic nights, weekends and holidays.
