The City of Beaverton seeks a steady, dependable, and approachable leader who will set a positive tone for the organization to serve as its new Police Chief.  Situated seven miles west of Portland in the Tualatin River Valley, Beaverton, Oregon is a friendly, active, and diverse City with a population of 99,000.  Covering 19.6 square miles, Beaverton is the second-largest incorporated city in Washington County and the sixth largest city in Oregon.

The selected candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or business/public administration. Twelve years of experience in municipal law enforcement, including 5 years in a senior management role (chief command level or within 1 or 2 levels in the organization from the chief commander) is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered.

Positions in this classification are required to possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the City’s driving standards. Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Executive Level certifications are required. If selected, the applicant must meet the standard to be licensed as a peace officer in the State of Oregon within 12 months.  Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprints must be completed and cleared prior to the start date. Testing must occur within 30 days of hire to receive the CJIS certification. The salary range for this position is $123,539.00 - $165,556.00, depending on qualifications and experience.
