Description | Treatment Plant Operator ("A", "B", "C" or Trainee): Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment in connection with the operation of water treatment plant facilities and distribution system. Subject to Passing Substance Screening This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug-screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five years. Duties:
Afternoon Shift 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Perquisites/ Allowances: Uniforms, personal protective equipment including steel toe safety shoes, operator certification renewal reimbursement. Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a Class "A", "B" or "C" Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License as issued by the State of Florida and required by the position. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants. Courses in Chemistry, mathematics and electrical mechanical maintenance. Certifications in: Hazcon, Confined Spaces, hearing Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens, Respirators, Workplace Violence, Lockout/Tagout, Fire Extinguishers, Personal Protections Equipment and Hazardous Waste Operations. Job Competencies:
Work Environment: Works around fumes, airborne particles, toxic and/or caustic chemicals. There can be risk of electrical shock and exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Physical Demands: Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. **At times may be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds. Work Schedule: This position is 40 hours per week and the hours will 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Days may include some holiday assignments. Schedule may vary pending weather conditions and emergencies.
