Description | FORT BEND COUNTYDEPARTMENT: COUNTY AUDITORJOB TITLE: ACCOUNTANT
JOB SUMMARY: Assist in maintaining accurate financial records for the County including but not limited to monitoring the financial aspects of grants. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare and monitor grants, residual accounts, law enforcement agreements, capital projects and other agreements entered into by the County, by ensuring compliance with agency requirements in order to continue maximizing funding for the County. Setup agreements in financial system along with budget, monitor revenue reimbursements, and close out agreement when completed. Works with outside agencies and departments on audits when necessary. Analyze financial documents such as general ledger, balance sheet, budget, etc. for the County. Troubleshoot accounting problems and have corrections made in subsystems or create journal entries to correct the issue if needed. Other duties as assigned which can include, working with Internal Audit staff and fee officer departments to maintain transactional data in financial system. Prepare/Assist with in preparing various annual financial reports audits, working with outside auditors. Prepare monthly financial reports to be presented to Commissioners Court. Prepare file to upload information into accounting system for generation of payment and proper recording in the general ledger. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, CPA preferred. Five years of job related experience, three years accounting/finance experience preferred. Knowledge of accounting and other finance-related areas. Strong verbal and written communications skills and organizational skills. The ability to deal with people effectively and professionally. Self-motivated to follow through independently on assigned projects.
SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 11 $1,879.20 - $2,210.40 biweekly based on qualifications CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
