Job Summary

Performs a variety of labor tasks as assigned in the operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructure and facilities. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.  Position is considered “Essential Personnel” which requires being on duty to respond during emergency situations including but not limited to natural and/or man-made disasters.  Position is required to rotate after hours “on-call” responsibilities.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Repairs a variety of municipal infrastructure equipment and facility repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Responds to complaints and work requests from the public.
• Prepares work sites and cleans up sites when jobs are complete.
• Works with other departments and divisions as needed.
• Operates large trucks requiring CLD license; assist with driving and labor work in all Public Works Divisions as needed.
• Restores landscaping and fencing for residents after project completion as necessary.
• Observes and follows safety rules and regulations including wearing of safety apparel during the course and scope of job related duties.
• Safely operates and maintains equipment and vehicles, which includes the interior and exterior cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
• Maintains records of work performed such as jobs completed and labor, materials and equipment.
• Performs excavating with shovels and other hand tools.
• Performs labor intensive tasks in all types of weather and environmental conditions.
• Regular and timely attendance at work.
• Reports to work free from the effects of illegal drugs or alcohol and reports to work free from impairment due to prescription drugs.

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification

High school diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
