Overview

The Engineering Associate will assist in the review of building applications and plans for the Development Services department and is responsible for ensuring consistency with standards for civil work on private developments in the City of Corpus Christi.

Responsibilities 

·                 Review private civil work on building permits, drawings and reports.

·                 Assist customers daily with over the counter permit requests such as driveways, sidewalks, rights-of-way, street excavations, pipeline permits, etc.

·                 Review construction plans and reports.

·                 Assist in the review of public improvement plans for work associated with private development as needed.

·                 Work with project managers, zoning technicians, building plan reviewers and others daily to help customers through permitting, platting, and public improvement design process.

·                 May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 Skills, Abilities and Other requirements

·        Must have the ability to interpret maps, plats, and construction drawings and plans for other internal departments and end users

·        Must be able to prepare detailed, concise reports

·        Must have the ability to meet and communicate with the public in a courteous and patient manner

 Qualifications 

·        Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

·        Minimum of two (2) years of related experience

·        A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered

·        Experience in a municipal public works setting is desirable, but not required
