SIGN-ON INCENTIVE ELIGIBLE

Changes out water meters. Test meters. Replaces meter lids and meter boxes.

• Changes out meter boxes of all sizes, curb stops and bad order meters.
• Repairs and maintains water meters, meter boxes and curb stops.
• Updates and data enters information on meters into a computerized system.
• Tests meters for accuracy and calculates meter leaks in gallons per minute.
• Completes related work orders.
• Inventories shop supplies and materials.
• Draws diagrams of lines, meters and meter repairs to be made.
• Maintains records of meters including addresses, meter numbers and manufacturer numbers.
• Maintains records of work performed such as jobs completed and labor, materials and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned. (i.e. meter reading, etc.)

Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building. Employee will be subject to extreme temperatures changing out maintaining meters. Ability to bend, stoop, lift and climb into small areas. Must be able to lift large valves, pumps, fittings and related meters and equipment. Employee may also be exposed to potentially hazardous chemicals or materials and traffic hazards while in the field.

Ability to read work orders and maps in order to find street locations. Skill in math to determine amount of water utilized. Skill in the use of variety of hand tools such as shovels, meter wrenches, meter keys, pry bar, blaster, meter tester and computer. Must be able to communicate on a two-way radio.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid Texas driver's license.
