Located in northeast Oklahoma, Broken Arrow is the fourth largest city in the state, with an estimated population of 115,000 people spread out over nearly 60 square miles. The City is located in Tulsa and Wagoner counties and is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area, which has a population of almost one million. From 2000 to 2010, U.S. Census Bureau numbers show the City grew by 32%, making it one of the fastest growing incorporated municipalities in Oklahoma.

The Engineering and Construction Department plans, coordinates, conducts and oversees all engineering and construction services for the City. The department employees are responsible for the design of streets, stormwater systems, water systems, wastewater systems, and parks. With continuous development throughout the City of Broken Arrow, the Engineering and Construction Department manages a large workload consisting of multiple high-profile projects aimed at improving the citizens’ lives. The Department Director oversees managers of the Stormwater Management Division, Engineering Division, and the Construction Division. The Director also provides guidance on matters involving building construction and renovation, infrastructure engineering and other construction-related projects as assigned by the Assistant City Manager of Operations.

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, public works engineering, or a closely related engineering field and at least 7 years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in multiple public works divisions are required. Professional Engineer certification is required in the State of Oklahoma or the ability to acquire such certification within one year of employment at City expense. The starting salary range is $98,800 to $128,400 with the top of the range at $158,100.
