Description | Pretrial Services - Jail Operations Coordinator (Official Job Title: Business Professional II): This position involves highly responsible professional and administrative work planning, coordinating and managing the Pretrial Services (PTS) Interviewing Unit including the Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC). The position provides advanced technical and analytical work supporting and coordinating projects, conducts research, formulates and interprets policy and procedures, and is actively involved with performance measures, personnel and related operational functions. Subject to Passing Substance Screening This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug-screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five years. Duties:
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Industrial/Engineering Technology, or job-related field and two (2) years job-related experience -OR- Six (6) years professional job-related experience can be substituted at management discretion for the required education. -OR- Related professional program/project management may substitute for the required education at management discretion. Become CJIS Certified/keep CJIS Certification current. Required to obtain/maintain DJJ certification to screen arrested youth. Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, counseling, social or behavioral science, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience in Juvenile Justice, or related experience performing duties for Court Administration, police or sheriff departments, or other correctional, social services or counseling fields. Job Competencies: Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations as they relate to employees; community resources, and state and federal agencies that provide social services and family support; courtroom procedures, practices and demeanor; advanced interviewing, counseling, screening and investigative and fact-gathering techniques; basic safety practices related to work; advanced record keeping and report writing principles and practices; advanced psychological theories and behavior modification methods and practices, including behavioral interviewing; principles, theories and practices of the criminal justice system; advanced courtroom procedures, practices and demeanor; advanced principles and techniques for making effective oral and written presentations. Skill in interpreting, applying and explaining applicable laws codes and regulations as they relate to employees; and preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and foster teamwork; interact successfully with individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds in person and over the telephone, often where relations may be confrontational or strained; communicate effectively verbally and in writing to staff and management; ability to uphold high professional standards, accuracy, reliability and consistent growth within the local criminal justice system.
