POSITION TITLE:  Parks Maintenance Technician I

DEPARTMENT:  Parks and Recreation                APPLICATION DEADLINE:  Until Filled

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  Responsibilities as assigned may include providing customer service; performing routine maintenance for buildings and grounds; performing routine repair of equipment, infrastructure, and/or related items; performing grounds and building security activities; operating motorized vehicles and equipment; inputting data into computerized systems; and preparing logs and records.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs detailed landscape maintenance such as; bed weeding, shrub trimming, dead heading and mulching. Performs minor landscape design and installation, including stone work and minor irrigation. Performs tree maintenance such as; tree trimming, general care and installation. Performs routine general and preventative maintenance, cleaning, and/or preparation of equipment, systems, infrastructure, and/or other items related to assigned area. Operates motorized vehicles and equipment, machinery, and/or tools in the maintenance and support of assigned area. Sets up, monitors and/or inspects assigned area, facilities, or equipment and identifies problems and/or necessary repairs.  Initiates actions, performs basic repair and maintenance tasks, or notifies/submits work orders for appropriate services required. Maintaining playgrounds and park structures; Preparing and maintaining athletic fields and park grounds & all associated amenities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  High School Diploma or GED and, as assigned, up to 1 year of related work experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a related field preferred.  Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license.  Must have a flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends.

SALARY:  $16.28 per hour
