Parks & Trails Superintendent

$60,419.02 - $66,460.93 annually, Depending of Qualifications

Location: 1000 Highland Village Road, Highland Village, TX 75077

Description: Under general supervision of the Parks Operations and Project Manager, this position is responsible for directly and indirectly supervising assigned employees and oversees the overall management, coordination and direction of operations and maintenance for parks, grounds and trails.  Work involves overseeing the administration, evaluation and inspection of parks, grounds, trails and facilities; preparing and overseeing the budget for assigned areas; and supervising subordinate personnel. Position oversees the exercise of appropriate safety precautions in the operation of equipment to ensure personal, public, and personnel safety.  Position is responsible for performing, planning, and supervising various grounds care and landscape architecture tasks to maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and aesthetically pleasing appearance of assigned areas. Employees in this class are responsible for planning, and assigning work and maintaining records on personnel and work performed; and when necessary, participating in all facets of work under charge.  Position inspects work during and upon completion for adherence to objectives and work orders.  Position is required to manage contracts and review the work of contractors.  Performs related work as directed.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, supplemented by five (5) years of previous experience in the field, including three (3) years progressive supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Must be able to obtain a CDL Class B license within 12 months of employment.  Must acquire Certified Playground Safety within 24 months of employment. Significant knowledge and experience in labor and workflow management, with emphasis on Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), contract management, horticulture, landscape maintenance, construction principals and irrigation methods required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must possess or be able to acquire First Aid and CPR certification within the first three (3) months of hire date.
