Grade:  216

Salary:  $66,901 - $109,625 Annually (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities 

The Policy Administrator will be responsible for managing staff performance involving the coordination of complex administrative projects or activities for the Development Services Department that require a high degree of specialized knowledge.

  • Conduct research, provide data, make recommendations, and implement solutions to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Serve as project coordinator or team leader on special projects as assigned.
  • Manage and coordinate all activities relating to development and revisions of the Unified Development Code and City Building Codes.
  • Draft council memorandums, presentations, and ordinances.
  • Develop and coordinate all matters relating to the Departments Information Bulletins and Code Interpretations and provide interpretations and communication of all code changes.
  • Manage third-party contracts and ensure scope of work and schedules in coordination with the Director and Assistant Directors.
  • Prepare updates for the Department’s communication tools to include development of related brochures and PowerPoint presentations and deliver to stakeholders and the public.
  • Manage all issues relating to proposed legislative changes, to include preparing and delivering presentation to Texas Legislative Committees.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in municipal government, building construction, subdivision, municipal building plan, zoning review, or permit issuance
  • Three (3) of these years must be in supervisory or administrative experience
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview. 

Closing Statement 

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
