Grade:  218

Salary:  $73,758 - $120,861 Annually (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Facilities Planner is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all activities involving work planning, estimating, execution and quality control of facility systems for the City of Corpus Christi, including preventative maintenance and energy conservation.  This position provides clients with clear and concise guidance on the orderly and cost effective development of facilities and provides long term development strategies based on the City’s future mission requirements.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Interact with all City departments to develop alternative development methods that are advantageous to the department.
  • Make recommendations to decision makers based on sound business case analysis.
  • Identify opportunities, cost, risk and payback for innovative approaches to facilities management.
  • Integrate asset management technologies and investment strategies that affect development.
  • Consider all aspects of facilities development including demographics, development trends, local economic conditions and trends, city’s requirements, compatible land use, safety considerations, the NEPA process, cultural resources regulations, the impact of natural resources management and general knowledge of the City’s and planning procedures.
  • Produce a wide variety of planning products and services such as capital improvement plans, business case analysis, cost estimates, economic analysis, life-cycle estimates, facility inventory data, facility planning documents, facility evaluation and basic facility requirements (BFR).
  • Develop and review capital improvement documentation.
  • Provide products to the customer in a timely manner once a schedule is established.
  • Perform energy surveys/interviews to assess facility and infrastructure conditions.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Certifications, Licenses or other requirements

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) required at time of hire
  • Must have working knowledge of Facilities Planning Systems to be able to recommend improvement measures to the process.
  • Must have working knowledge of Capital Improvement Plans.

 

Qualifications 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

  • Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.
  • Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
