The Town of Argyle, a first-class community rich in heritage, is located in Denton County, Texas. Founded in 1881 and incorporated in 1963, Argyle occupies approximately 13 square miles, has a population of 4,170 and is situated in one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States. Strategically located six miles south of Denton on Interstate Highway 35W, Argyle is conveniently accessible to major airports and transportation centers.

The Town of Argyle is a type A general-law municipality operating under an aldermanic form of government. The Town Council is made up of a Mayor and five Town Council members. The Council appoints the Town Manager and the Police Chief reports directly to the Town Manager. The Town of Argyle seeks a committed, decisive, service-oriented, and enthusiastic Police Chief who will lead the department with integrity, vision, consistency, and honesty.

The selected candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university. A master’s degree is preferred. Fifteen years of certified law enforcement experience in municipal policing, three of which include command level (chief command level or within 1 or 2 levels in the organization from the chief commander) experience in a law enforcement agency, is required. The chosen candidate must be a Certified Police Officer in the State of Texas or be able to obtain certification within six months of hire. Advanced law enforcement education and training (FBI NA, SMIP, etc.) are desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the required skills and expertise will be considered. The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $120,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
