Aircraft Rescue and Fueling Specialist I
$18.26 - 20.54 Hourly

Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position will function as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Specialist. This position will perform a variety of ARFF, fire prevention, and aircraft service and fueling that includes ARFF responses, emergency medical support, inspections of airfield and buildings, quality control of Fuel Farm / Fuel Trucks, landscaping and other aviation related support. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•Implement airfield safety procedures, such as; ensure safe takeoff and landing of aircraft; coordinate dispatching; utilize airfield landing and navigational aids. Coordinate communication between air traffic control and maintenance personnel and provide airport advisory services.  Fuel / service aircraft as requested and process fuel transactions utilizing Veeder Root EMR and TAS.  

•Conduct daily, monthly and yearly checks and inspections of airfield operations, which include but not limited to; quality control and safety inspections on aviation fuel and fuel farm; equipment on vehicles, such as, air packs, tools, oil and fuel levels, pumps, radio and EMS supplies. Perform daily inspections of proximity gear, SCBA, and ARFF apparatus. Complete and file reports.  

•Participate in training to maintain knowledge of the airport emergency plan. Act as liaison contact for matters that involve Aircraft rescue and Firefighting training and education to entities such as State Fire Commission. Study books, pamphlets, videos and other materials concerning fire tactics, EMS practices, ARFF equipment and other related information. Includes classroom training, individual study and live evolutions.   

•Maintain requirements with the Texas Commission for live burns, Emergency Medical Technician, ARFF, and Structural Firefighter certifications.  

•Responds to all emergency and non-emergency situations on and around the airfield which include but not limited to, aircraft fires, structural fires, EMS and hazardous materials.  Provide aircraft rescue operations and firefighting, which involve removing people from hazardous situations, and provide emergency medical treatment to injured persons.   

•Suppresses fires, including aircraft, trash, grass, building and chemical fires.  

•Perform routine public service duties and education as assigned such information programs to schools or organizational tours of the ARFF facilities.  


Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
Two years of experience in firefighting or aircraft refueling
Must be a Certified Structural Firefighter and EMT certified.
Shall acquire and maintain ARFF certification within the first year of employment.
Valid driver’s license required.
