Salary:  $49,922 - $81,803 Annually (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The Public Relations Manager will plan, deliver, and manage a broad range of public relations and communication strategies for the Water Utilities Department. The position will incorporate public outreach as a core management component of strategic planning and day-to-day operations. The position will be key in establishing and maintaining effective working partnerships with stakeholder groups.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and manage proactive initiatives to promote Water Utilities services and build key relationships with stakeholders using public relations tools such as media, research, publicity and engagement.
  • Deliver a strategic communication plan that clearly identifies with whom the message will be communicated, what needs to be communicated, how best to communicate the message, and how to maintain the contact.
  • Implement consistent, multifaceted, and sustained outreach.
  • Identify proactive media opportunities that generate media coverage for Water Utilities as projects emerge.
  • Evaluate efforts to continually learn from and improve public outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate events and community meetings as needed.
  • Serve as the department lead for all public messaging.
  • Counsel staff on written responses, monitor, edit and evaluate key content for media requests, website, social media, or reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Manage time and resources to accomplish goals.
  • Manage operating and project budgets.
  • Mentor and lead employees; evaluate performance.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of directly related experience
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
