IT ERP Support Specialist

Summary: This IT position is responsible for assisting with the analysis, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Tyler Munis ERP System for the City of Odessa. This position serves as supplemental assistance to the IT ERP Support Supervisor. Additionally, this position will be required to assist internal customers in utilizing systems efficiently and effectively in fulfilling business objectives, while participating in troubleshooting, supporting, and developing various application related projects involved with the City Of Odessa IT team.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Analyze flow of data through the ERP system and develop procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Assist in managing, testing, implementing, and monitoring changes to the flow of information
  • Design and develop reports that extract data from the ERP system/legacy systems to respond to business needs
  • Provide timely technical support to users of ERP/Legacy applications as assigned.
  • Advise, support and provide guidance in the use of ERP applications.
  • Support new software enhancements, system processes and/or 3rd party products following implementation.
  • Assists in consulting on improvement of business process and internal department process.
  • Perform unit testing, as well as coordinate and ensure all formal end-user User Acceptance Testing (UAT) is completed on time.
  • Accountable for enforcement of IT department standards, including but not limited to, proper documentation and approval processes.
  • Document reported incidents and resolutions in department's incident tracking system, including tracking follow up of incidents as needed.
  • In collaboration with department directors, coordinate and facilitate ongoing system training opportunities for select staff to ensure basic knowledge of modules and overall system utilization.
  • Must have and maintain a cell phone for City use.
  • Supports the departmental needs by regular and timely attendance.
  • Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical discipline preferred. Three (3) years overall IT experience with significant experience in software support and/or development. Experience supporting business accounting applications and/or enterprise resource planning software a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle and other database systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, and Oracle Data Integration is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, activities and tasks under time constraints.
  • Ability to interface with executives and stakeholders regarding issues of project scope and status.
  • Ability to facilitate productive meetings and drive outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, determine appropriate actions and complete projects with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude.

License and certification requirements: A valid Texas State Driver's License is required. Other professional IT certifications are desirable. Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of FBI criminal background fingerprint check in accordance with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) standards. Must carry a cell phone 24 x 7 for emergency communication needs.

Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed in a standard office environment.
