The City of Keller is excited to announce our recruitment process for Police Chief. Under general direction of the City Manager, the Police Chief supervises the planning, operations and administration of law enforcement, and provides the overall direction for the police officer staff, support personnel and administrative employees.

The successful candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university. They will also have ten (10) years of law enforcement experience with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in law enforcement service that includes a combination of supervisory and Command-level experience.. Experience as Police Chief in a similarly sized city with comparable operation complexity is preferred, as is experience with regionalized operations. They will also meet the following qualifications:

  •      Extensive knowledge of modern police principles, methods and practices, including local, state, and federal criminal and juvenile law/statues

  •       Ability to prepare and manage budget

  •       Ability to maintain good communication and relations with personnel and citizens

  •       Ability to become TCOLE Peace Officer certified within one year of hire

  •       Possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record

The City of Keller is pleased to offer a competitive benefits package to our employees, including a two-to-one match of employee contributions to the Texas Municipal Retirement System. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
