Description | Traffic Control Technician: This position is skilled work in the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of traffic control devices to include traffic signs, pavement markings, delineators, barricades, cones, raised pavement markers and any other device related to Traffic Operations. It also includes programming and deployment of message boards, arrow boards, etc. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five years. Duties: Sign Installation:

Click Here to View Our Benefits Guide Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or its equivalent. Ability to obtain a valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of appointment. Must successfully complete the International Municipal Sign Association (IMSA) sign and road markings course Level I within one year of employment.****Incumbents must maintain Class "B" CDL in order to remain employed.**** Job Competencies: Ability to learn local standards for traffic control devices. Ability to learn Federal, State and local standards regarding traffic and control devices. Ability after training to use tools and equipment used in the installation and repair of traffic control devices. Ability to learn safety regulations as they apply to the installation and repair of traffic control devices. Ability to work under adverse weather conditions. Physical Demands: This position must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
