FORT BEND COUNTY DEPARTMENT: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICEJOB TITLE: DEPUTY CHIEF - TRAINING
JOB SUMMARY: Manages and directs all aspects of the EMS Training Division. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the review and continuous quality improvement of pre-hospital patient care. Researches and designs patient care protocols, equipment, and procedures for recommendation and implementation by the EMS Medical Director. Responsible for medical oversight of all field personnel. Directs personnel and manages activities for daily operations. Designs and implements an EMS continuing education program to instruct EMS employees in knowledge and skills, which meet and exceed standards set by U.S. DOT, Texas Dept. of Health Services curriculum and criteria established by the EMS Medical Director. Designs and administers cognitive and psychomotor testing for all EMS field personnel. Responds to emergency medical scenes and provides supervision/command and/or patient care as needed. Provides direct liaison between EMS staff and the EMS Medical Director. Manages and directs the EMS computerized patient care reporting systems to also include: State Trauma Registry, SETRAC collected data, and other third party programs requiring EMS Statistics or direct uploaded information. Prepares Training Division budget and recommends purchases. Provides evaluation of EMS field applicants and recommends new hires. Provides direct supervision of EMS Lieutenants and field personnel. Recommends and dispenses discipline and merit. Reviews and approves annual appraisals. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED; Two-year Technical School in EMS Paramedicine. Associate Degree in Paramedicine preferred. Five years job related EMS field experience with two years in a supervisory capacity and two years’ experience as EMS Instructor. Strong verbal and written communication, supervisory, management, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials. Paramedic Certification and TDSHS certification as an EMS Instructor. TDSHS certification as an EMS Course Coordinator preferred. May be subject to 24-hours Emergency call-in. Valid Drivers License.
SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 13, $2,532.00 - $2,980.00 biweekly based on qualifications CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
