DEPARTMENT: EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE

JOB TITLE: LIEUTENANT

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Works collaboratively to develop, deliver, and evaluate continuing education, protocols, and procedures to facilitate the highest quality of pre-hospital patient care.  Provides positive support to our members.  Participates in planning of programs, protocols or objectives for own work group and department.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and delivers continuing education to department employees and allied agency providers utilizing both traditional classroom and innovative technology delivery methods.  Provides clinical oversight of the pre-hospital patient care provided by FBC EMS through direct field observation and review of patient care reports for protocol compliance and quality of patient care.  Supports all employees of FBC EMS with feedback and remediation as needed.  Coordinates applicant testing, new hire academies, trainee field training assignment and credential progression.  Supports Field Training Office Program through collaboration to improve proficiency of trainees entering the field, updating evaluation tools and reference materials as needed.  Collaborates with Operational Officers on special projects, group or individual training support, and field training needs.  Collaborates with area medical facilities to maintain a continuum of care for optimal patient outcomes.  Recommends updates/changes to formulary, protocols, procedures and equipment to improve quality of care, safety and efficiency.  Special projects as assigned by the Deputy Chief of Training.  Works as needed as an Essential employee.  Subject to 24 hours emergency recall.  Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local, state or Federal disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED; National Registry Paramedic and/or Texas Paramedic Certification/License, or an Associates or higher in related field.  Valid Texas Driver’s License.  Texas Emergency Medical Services Instructor Certification preferred.  Instructor credentials in CPR, ACLS, EPC, TECC, and/or TCCC.  Possesses NIMS certifications: 100, 200, 700 and 800.  Must obtain NIMS 300 and 400 certifications within 12 months of employment.    Three years as a Paramedic within a 911 service; at least 2 year as an Instructor.  Dynamic understanding of human anatomy and physiology.  Knowledge of Pharmacology utilized in a pre-hospital setting and general industry standard of pre-hospital patient care, education in the adult learning environment and dynamic teaching methods.  Strong computer skills, including, but not limited to, working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.  Capability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, independently and/or collaboratively.

 

SALARY RANGE: Public Health Grade 11, $2,078.40 - $2,444.80 biweekly based on qualifications
