Grade:  121

Salary:  $21.84 - $35.79 Hourly (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities 

The Construction Inspector II will be responsible for inspecting the construction of engineering services projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. The work may include inspection of medium to large projects such as streets, utilities, facilities, bridges, sidewalks, subdivisions, and parks.

  • Site inspections, contractor progress meetings, coordinating with businesses and property owners, City and franchise utilities.
  • Review, correct, and process monthly pay applications.
  • Prepare and review daily progress reports.
  • Review, re-direct and respond to contractor RFIs.
  • Review change order requests for entitlement, accuracy and cost reasonableness.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in municipal infrastructure construction or other related field
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

  • Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.
  • Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
