Salary:  $86,237 - $141,311 Annually (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non-rotating 4- hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview 

The Engineer V will manage the City of Corpus Christi’s various utility master planning efforts by working with both internal and external stakeholders to develop utility plans that improve and assist the community.  This position will provide leadership to assigned staff, oversee and prepare engineering designs, and develop and implement processes and plan documents that meet regulatory requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of utility planning through in-house application and interpretation of engineering principles and practices as they relate to design and construction.
  • Provide direction and recommendations on the design of Capital Improvement Projects and Bond projects and oversee associated budgets.
  • Review and prepare in-house studies, design plans and cost estimates.
  • Attend pre-construction conferences, visit project sites, review construction plans, and ensure capital projects are consistent with adopted master plans.
  • Supervise staff to include; prioritize and assign work, conduct performance reviews, ensure staff is trained, ensure employees adhere to policies and procedures, make hiring decisions and recommend disciplinary action.
  • Oversee and participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of department goals and infrastructure performance benchmarks.
  • Interact with employees and/or consultant and stakeholders to develop utility plans that assist the community.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Certifications, Licenses and Other Requirements

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or a valid registration as a Professional Engineer in another state is required
  • Previous registration in Texas or another state with the ability to obtain State of Texas registration within six (6) months of employment is required

Qualifications 

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience
  • A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

  • Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
