Attendant (Parks):  Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all areas inside and outside at Laurel Park and Nokomis Community Park to include court areas, playground, and shelter. Duties include: trash removal, setting up chair, tables, goals & sports nets for events and rentals, checking playground areas for safety, and cleaning the floors (to include use of a floor cleaning machine). Other job responsibilities will include but not limited to trash removal and cleaning of the interior and exterior at other park locations. Attendant will also interact with customers to ensure excellent customer service and assist at other sites and/or special events off site as needed, to include but not limited to moving equipment.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening

This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening.  An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five years.

 

Duties:

 

  • Provides janitorial services.  Cleans, weeds, maintains grounds, play areas and court surfaces. Pickup and removes trash from all grounds, courts, shelters, and areas.  Rakes playgrounds and other areas as needed.  Trims, irrigates and maintains all plant bed areas.  Keeps picnic shelters free of trash and surfaces clean.  Blows off courts, shelter areas, walkways, and parking lots.  Performs these and other miscellaneous duties at primary assigned location and other assigned facilities.
  • Maintains and cleans interior and outdoor facilities, to include rest rooms, weight room, gymnasium, meeting rooms, kitchen area, and offices. Cleans windows; paints; sweeps, mops, strips and waxes floors.  Sets up, cleans, and dismantles tables, chairs, and sports nets & goals.  Removes trash to dumpsters.  Makes semi-skilled repairs as needed at primary assigned and other assigned facilities.
  • Operates equipment (mowers, weed whackers, floor machines, pressure washers, lighting mechanisms and timers, hand tools, che-tech, computers, locking mechanisms).  Keeps all work areas clean and safe.  Keeps accurate operating and maintenance records.  Maintains equipment and materials and initiates and follow-thru with service requests.  Performs daily safety inspection of all areas including daily playground inspections.  Utilizes computer software systems including Microsoft products, Recreation software and other software products as needed. Obtains any necessary training required for the position.
  • Provides customer service to all users to include but not limited to: open/close the facility; acts as a liaison with users to ensure proper maintenance and preparation is scheduled and performed and ensure security at the facility(s).
  • Assists with event/program set up and clean up. Provides janitorial and misc. assistance as needed for special functions.

Minimum Qualifications:   A High School Diploma or GED and a valid Florida Driver's License.

Preferred Qualification:  Floor Cleaning Machine preferred.  Playground maintenance training preferred.  First Aid CPR/AED Certified preferred.

Physical Demands:   Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.  A dolly, cart or assistance from another team member is available when lifting excessive weight.  There is occasional work in high, precarious places and occasional work around fumes, airborne particles and/or toxic/caustic chemicals.

 

Work Schedule:   This position works evenings, weekends and occasionally holidays.  Rotation is required and emergencies are required.  Work schedule can and will be shifted to accommodate work load.  Times scheduled can be changed according to work load, vacations, vacancies and employees out sick and other unforeseen circumstances.
