Description | FORT BEND COUNTYDEPARTMENT: GEORGE MEMORIAL LIBRARY - ADMINISTRATIONJOB TITLE: SPECIAL PROJECTS MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Special Projects Manager coordinates special projects involving multiple areas and locations of the Fort Bend County Library System, with an emphasis on Audio-Visual equipment recommendations and installation. Works closely with library and county IT staff, Assistant Library Director, Maintenance Supervisor, vendors, business office and other external entities. Participates in planning and construction of new facilities and renovation of existing facilities. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates with Director in long-range planning and establishing priorities for AV projects and equipment as well as other projects, renovations, and improvements in all county library locations. Reads and interprets plans for audio-visual equipment in new building construction and renovations and furnishings. Provides periodic reports on project status and potential problem areas, consults with other county departments and vendors to discuss problems and interpret requirements related to projects. Oversees the delivery of outside contracts or vendor services pertaining to AV and other special projects, ensuring that work is completed according to established agreements and timeliness. Oversees the receipt and installation of AV equipment. Assists with other furnishings and equipment. Evaluates audio-visual equipment, and building/room sound system, including recommendation, installation and minor repair. Assists with budget preparations; recommends, audio-visual, video-conferencing, and video security system equipment selection. Monitors, maintains, updates and designs the library amphitheater audio-visual system, including lighting and sound board systems. Responsible for set-up, instruction, minor repair and vendor services. Assists other county departments in audio-visual and video-conferencing technologies. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Library and Information Science preferred and Bachelor’s Degree in Media Arts, Audiovisual Services, Communication, Telecommunication, Communication Equipment Technology, Radio, Television, Film or related field. Three years job related experience. Advanced Computer skills with good verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials. Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Ability to operate and provide minor adjustments for a variety of audiovisual and distance learning equipment. Ability to operate small hand tools and equipment. Requires weekend and evening work as assigned.
SALARY RANGE: Professional/Management Grade 12, $2,197.60 - $2,586.40 biweekly based on qualifications AVAILABLE: Monday, December 16, 2019 CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
