Description | FORT BEND COUNTYDEPARTMENT: COUNTY ATTORNEYJOB TITLE: SR. LITIGATION COORDINATOR
JOB SUMMARY: Assists the department in the delivery of legal services and provides efficient and accurate preparation and processing of complex litigation documents while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares documents for review and revisions by attorney in preparation for trial. Sets up and maintains litigation files, work files and research files. Monitors litigation expenses, monthly attorney billable hours, and annual or periodic reporting on cases and claims. Processes first-party claims for insurance reimbursement of attorney fees and litigation expenses; third-party claims for recovery of attorneys’ fees; submission of reports to external financial auditors, insurance underwriters and claims adjusters. Maintains attorneys’ calendars and dockets, including appearance dates, deposition dates, and other related matters, to ensure deadlines are met. Requisitions purchase orders and supplies when necessary. Maintains law library to remain current on statutory developments and case law and to perform necessary legal research. Reviews subpoenas and deposition notices. Administers and facilitates release of public and/or discoverable information and data. Prevents, restricts and/or regulates disclosure of privileged, exempt and/or confidential information. Assimilates all information necessary for proper evaluation, negotiation and resolution of subrogation claims. Serves as notary public. Other duties as assigned. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
REQUIREMENTS: High School/GED and two years of specialized vocational/technical (Paralegal preferred) training. Five years job related experience. Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 50 WPM), including proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communications; Excellent organizational skills; Ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials. Valid Texas Driver’s License, Paralegal Certificate highly preferred. Notary Public preferred. Bilingual preferred.
SALARY RANGE: Administrative/Clerical Grade 9, $1,424.00 - $1,676.00 biweekly based on qualifications CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
