Responsible for leading, monitoring and participating in City streets, drainage, landscaping repair and maintenance related activities.  Supervise and monitor the day to day activities of the street work crew's drainage and landscaping job responsibilities, to include but not limited to, the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction equipment used in street, drainage and landscaping maintenance.

 

 Principal Duties:
  1. Supervise and coordinate daily activities of street repair and maintenance jobs under general direction of the Supervisor.
  2. Operate construction and maintenance equipment used routinely during public works activities.
  3. Assure equipment is in operating condition and properly maintained by regularly inspecting for operational efficiency.
  4. Enforce and utilize safety equipment as needed in the course of duty.
  5. Conduct on-the-job safety instruction and training to personnel regarding the safe operation of heavy equipment.
  6. Perform customer service duties to include but not limited to, interacting with customers over the phone and/or responding to and resolving citizen inquiries or complaints.
  7. Respond to service request problems encountered during assigned activities.
  8. Input work order information into computerized City Works, work order system.
  9. Assist with inventory of street/drainage materials and tools.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 Qualifications:
Required:  
High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two (2) years additional technical training in a field related to area of assignment, and two (2) years experience related to area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Knowledge of the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel programs. Valid CDL "A" license issued by the State of Texas and available for emergency response.
