Brief Description of the Police Officer Job:

Perform law enforcement work in order to preserve public peace and protect lives, property and rights of the public and to enforce statutory law and municipal ordinances under the Chief of Police.

Education and Experience Requirements for Police Officer:

High school diploma or equivalency.  Peace Officer license required.  Valid Texas Operator Driver’s License required. TLETS certification preferred. 

Essential Functions for Police Officer:

1. Enforces laws and ordinances by ticketing traffic law violators, writing citations and offense reports and arresting offenders.
2. Protects citizens by patrolling businesses and residential areas and looking for suspicious persons or events.
3. May perform other duties by serving warrants, subpoenas, transporting prisoners, testifying in court, training new recruits, completing computer work, purchasing supplies, investigating crime scenes, collecting evidence.
4. Documents enforcement and investigation efforts through complete and concise reports, obtains statements from witnesses and confessions from suspects, prepares affidavits and criminal complaints.

FLSA: 7K  exempt             Hours: Full-time, Shift       Salary Range:    $52,000-$62,145 DOQ
