Grade:  117

Salary:  $17.97 - $29.45 (Dependent on Qualifications)

ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Rotating 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities 

  • Performs maintenance, installation and repair of plumbing systems at various locations throughout the city. Troubleshoots reported discrepancies; prepares material estimates and work plans for management review. 
  • Performs preventative maintenance by periodically inspecting equipment to locate and correct problems prior to equipment failure and advising management of equipment condition and the need for repair to ensure proper operations of systems.
  • Works from building plans, blueprints and sketches to lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and proper operation of systems and equipment. 
  • Maintains and repairs pressure, drain and sewage line within and building structures; installs and repairs grease traps and separators. Determines and installs valves and traps needed for proper operation of systems.
  • Repairs and installs piping (copper, steel, PVC, CPVC, etc.) using welding, brazing, soldering, mechanical and chemical bonding methods according to Plumbing Code Standards. as well as repairs and installs drinking fountains, irrigation system components, icemakers, filtration devices, rotary pumps and fire suppression apparatus as assigned.
  • Provides plumbing support services for minor construction, modification and renovation projects assigned to Facility Maintenance Division for completion.
  • Provides labor support to other craftsman (electricians, carpenters, A/C maintenance mechanics, etc.) as required
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 2-year experience  
  • A valid Texas Journeyman Plumber License if required at the time of hire
  • A valid Class C Texas driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating 

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
