Description	Job Description: Performs difficult skilled technical work planning and supervising equipment repair and maintenance, securing maintenance and repair supplies and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance of all fleet vehicles, requiring semi-skilled administrative work. Provides lead direction and work coordination for staff, ensuring that assigned projects are completed in a satisfactory and timely manner, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have a solid work ethic and excellent diagnostic skills. They will be a self-starter with the ability to multitask and accept new methods and ideas. They will have the ability to perform all phases of maintenance and repair on light-duty vehicles, heavy equipment, and fire apparatus. In addition, they will be able to schedule and assign work as well as monitor work progress. The area of emphasis will be first-line supervision of all equipment mechanics. Master Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in medium and heavy trucks ASE and Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification in fire apparatus preferred. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and considerable experience in all phases of heavy and light duty maintenance and repair, maintenance operations, and automotive and heavy equipment repairs, including moderate supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements Valid State Driver's License Must obtain Arizona Commercial Driver's License Class A with Tanker Endorsement within six months or hire. Must obtain Forklift Operator Certification, within 6 months of hire. Master Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in medium and heavy trucks preferred. Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification in fire apparatus is preferred. National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training based on assignment. Special Training Requirements based on the availability of training. Pierce Factory Training Hale Pump School Tymco School Gain extensive knowledge of diagnostic software for all equipment. The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation and alcohol/drug screening test.
