GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: Performs entry level to full proficiency level responsible protective service work in the police department; does related work as required and is expected to be able to perform complex or involved patrol tasks, administrative duties and/or aide in the investigation of complex incidents or criminal acts when requested, and available to do so. Performs supervisory duties when authorized to do so by the Division or District Commander. The work involves an element of personal danger. Entry level work is usually performed under close supervision while full proficiency work is usually performed under regular supervision.
