Description

The City of Bothell Prosecutor’s Office is looking for a driven, organized, and efficient legal student to serve their Rule 9 Internship with us.

This internship provides students an excellent opportunity to practice their legal writing skills, to gain familiarity with the rules of criminal procedure and evidence, and to learn how to interact professionally with other attorneys.

This is a 1-year commitment: Depending on the school, this may be from May 2024 – April 2025 OR from June 2024 – May 2025).

  • Summer break: 40 hours and is benefit eligible
  • During School: less than 20 hours per week and is not benefit eligible

What will you do in this position?

  • Be involved at every step of the criminal process.
  • Independently run the in-custody and arraignments court calendars.
  • Conduct jury/bench trials during the monthly trial week.
  • Do legal research.
  • Write legal response briefs.
  • Argue motions when necessary.

A successful candidate in this position will:

  • Be committed to learn and improve.
  • Understand appropriate ethical behavior in a public sector work environment.
  • Have global and cultural awareness and a willingness to embrace the diversity of the Bothell community.
