Description | Full Time Salary $24.07-$26.48 Hourly Join the dynamic Public Works team at the City of Highland Village as Construction Inspector and play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of our water, wastewater, roads and drainage systems. Under the general supervision of the Deputy Director of Public Works, you'll utilize your expertise in building construction methods, materials, and regulatory practices to conduct thorough inspections of new, existing, and altered infrastructure. Responsibilities: - Conduct periodic inspections of construction sites to ensure adherence to established regulatory practices, work orders, and objectives. - Visit construction sites to verify compliance with plans and regulations, communicating effectively with contractors and developers to gather necessary information. - Review and approve monthly pay requests during construction phases, assisting in the review of blueprints and specifications for compliance with city standards. - Maintain detailed logs of inspections, photographs, and work performed in files, ensuring accurate data and reports are prepared. - Utilize GIS mapping to track and document city infrastructure. - Coordinate activities with other departments and divisions to facilitate efficient project management and compliance. Job RequirementsRequirements: - High school diploma, GED, or vocational/technical training. - Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the field, such as in construction or SWP3 BMP inspection. - Considerable knowledge of building construction methods, materials, and principles. - Familiarity with applicable municipal, regional, and state regulatory practices. - Construction Inspector Certification desired. - Valid State driver’s license required.
