Description

Summary

Develops, plans, conducts, and evaluates water and wastewater programs which communicate activities including writing content, outreach, brand management and promotion. Implement internal and external communications, including media schedule, print material, traditional and social media, and advocacy activities. 

Essential Functions

 

  • Supervise the development of outreach and educational programs to educate and inform the community on water and wastewater related issues;
  • Assist in managing department budget for education and outreach needs;
  • Write a variety of different content to support water utilities and communication efforts;
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy design to further water utilities objectives;
  • Plan and organize promotional events to help keep water utilities top of mind and be readily available to offer assistance during promotional events;
  • Perform outreach to public sectors and build strategic partnerships to tell our water story;
  • Supervisor interns and support staff;
  • Perform related duties as required.

 

Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, or a related degree or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Valid TX Driver's License Required

 

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Budget and report preparation;
  • Program development, implementation, and evaluation;
  • Event coordination and planning;
  • Communications, branding, marketing and or public relations;
  • Time management, organization skills, and ability to meet deadlines;
  • Familiar with graphic design program software.
  •  

Ability to:

  • Maintain records and prepare reports;
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of others;
  • Proficient public speaking abilities;
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Work both independently and as part of a team
  • Versatile in adapting messages to different platforms;
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers and partners;
  • Critical thinking skills and analyze date.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently look at computer screens for long periods of time
  • Occasionally rotate wrist
  • Frequently push and pull;
  • Occasionally walk up and down stairs and inclines
  • Frequently use fine motor skills;
  • Occasionally kneel;
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds;
  • Occasionally carry up to 25 pounds;
  • Frequently stand and walk during the shift;
  • Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
  • Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
  • Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height.
